Are you a member of a political party? Don’t be too quick to answer. In recent days, it has been found that some political parties fraudulently registered people as members without their consent or knowledge. The identification data is usually obtained illegally from M-Pesa agents and other sources.
The Registrar of Political Parties has warned of dire consequences for any party caught registering people without their consent or knowledge.
To find out if you have been fraudulently registered, simply visit the Political Parties Membership Status Portal. Enter your ID or Passport number and click View Report to see if you have been registered by any party.
What do you do if you have been fraudulently/Mistakenly Registered?
If you find your name in the register of a political party without your consent, you need to write a complaint letter the Registrar of Political Parties and email it, together with a copy of your ID/passport, to info@orpp.or.ke. If you are unable to email, the Registrar of Political Parties has advised people to call the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties in their County and request the county officers to collect the documents. See their Tweet below.
