NEW YORK – The inquest into the death of Jeff Mwathi is poised to witness a plethora of testimonies, with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions amassing 35 individuals to present their accounts before the court.

Senior Principal Magistrate Zainab Abdul, before whom the case was mentioned, has set the 10th of August, 2023, as the date for the hearing.

In a bid to ensure an exhaustive investigation, Abdul has conceded additional time to the prosecution to assemble the witnesses and collect their testimonies. These statements are slated to be passed on to the family’s attorney, Danstan Omari.

The late Mwathi’s mother, Ann Mwathi, who graced the courtroom with her presence, confided in the press about the emotional turmoil her family has been enduring since her son’s demise.

Mwathi met his untimely death on February 22nd, 2023, at the residence of DJ Fatxo, situated in the Redwood Apartments, Kasarani. The initial reports hinted at suicide as the cause.

However, the incident incited public outrage, culminating in the arrest of DJ Fatxo and two other individuals. Following a meticulous probe, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations absolved DJ Fatxo, finding no evidence to implicate the popular Muguthi Star in Mwathi’s death.
