Moved to a new town and looking for a Sabbath home? Kenya has thousands of Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) churches, from big city congregations to small village churches. Rather than rely on an old list, here is how to find an SDA church near you using the church’s own tools, plus a guide to how the church is organised in Kenya.
How to Find an SDA Church Near You
- Use the official Adventist Locator. The Seventh-day Adventist Church’s official tool for finding churches and schools worldwide is the Adventist Locator. Search by town or area.
- Try the Adventist Directory. The Adventist Directory lists church locations and contact details.
- Contact the local conference or field. Every SDA church in Kenya belongs to a conference or field (see below). The conference office can point you to the nearest church.
- Ask locally. Neighbours, colleagues or a nearby Adventist school or hospital will usually know where the closest church is.
Church entries in the online locators are updated by the churches themselves, so some details may be out of date. If you’re travelling for a special Sabbath, confirm service times with the local church or conference first.
How the SDA Church Is Organised in Kenya
Kenya falls under the church’s East-Central Africa Division. Since a 2012 reorganisation of the former Kenya Union Mission, the country has been divided into two union conferences:
- East Kenya Union Conference (EKUC), headquartered in Nairobi.
- West Kenya Union Conference (WKUC), headquartered in Kisumu.
Each union is made up of conferences and fields, which in turn oversee local churches.
