Missed the 9 o’clock news, or stuck somewhere without a TV? You can still catch NTV live. NTV Kenya, owned by Nation Media Group, is a free-to-air channel, which means you can watch it legally at no cost on a digital TV, and online through its official website and YouTube channel. Here are all the legal ways to watch.
1. Watch NTV Live on the Official Website
- Open your browser and go to ntvkenya.co.ke/live.
- You can also go to ntvkenya.co.ke and tap the NTV Live or TV link at the top of the page.
- Press play on the live player. Use Wi-Fi if you can, because live video uses a lot of data.
2. Watch NTV on YouTube
NTV Kenya’s official YouTube channel, NTV Kenya, carries news bulletins, interviews and shows, and is where it streams live programmes. Open the YouTube app, search for NTV Kenya and check the channel’s “Live” tab. Subscribe and turn on notifications so you know when a live stream starts.
YouTube is also the easiest way to watch from outside Kenya and to catch up on a bulletin you missed.
3. Watch NTV Free-to-Air on a Digital TV
NTV broadcasts free-to-air on Kenya’s digital terrestrial TV (DTT) network. If you have a digital TV with a built-in decoder (DVB-T2) or a free-to-air set-top box and an aerial:
- Open the TV or decoder menu and run an automatic channel scan.
- Wait for the scan to finish and look for NTV in the channel list.
- If NTV is missing, adjust the aerial towards your nearest transmitter and scan again.

4. Watch NTV on Pay-TV
NTV is also carried on pay-TV platforms. The channel numbers we could confirm are:
| Platform | NTV channel number |
|---|---|
| DStv | 271 |
| Zuku TV | 13 |
NTV is also available on GOtv and StarTimes, but channel numbers on these platforms change after line-up reshuffles. Search for “NTV” in your decoder’s channel guide to find it.
Tips
- Stick to the official website and YouTube channel. “Free NTV live” sites and apps from unknown sources often carry pirated streams, malware and pop-up ads.
- Some programmes, such as international sports, may not be streamed online because of broadcasting rights.
- To save data on YouTube, lower the video quality to 360p or 480p from the settings icon.
