Citizen TV viewers can find the broadcaster’s online television services on Citizen Digital, the Royal Media Services platform. Start with its official live TV page and select Citizen TV when the station list loads. This avoids unrelated websites that use the station’s name.
What you need
Use a phone, tablet or computer with an updated browser and an internet connection. Video uses mobile data even when a website does not charge an admission fee. Have enough data or use a trusted Wi-Fi connection.
How to watch Citizen TV online
- Open Citizen Digital’s TV section.
- Choose Citizen TV from the available stations. Citizen Digital also carries other Royal Media Services channels, so check the station name.
- Press the player’s play button if playback does not start automatically. On some phones, you must tap the player before sound or video starts.
- Use the player’s volume, quality and full-screen controls where available.
- If the live player is unavailable, check Citizen Digital’s news and video sections for published reports and programme clips. A recorded clip is not the live broadcast.
Watching through the Citizen Digital app
The official Citizen Digital Android listing identifies Royal Media Services as the developer and includes live TV and radio. Use the official Google Play listing, check the developer, then install or update the app. Open its live television section and choose the station.
Avoid installing an APK sent through a message or advertised as an “unlocked” Citizen TV player. You do not need to give a stranger your M-PESA PIN to watch a television stream.
If the stream will not play
Refresh the page, close other video streams and check whether another ordinary website loads. If possible, try another browser or switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi. Update the app if the problem occurs there.
A player that loads without a picture may reflect a connection problem or a temporary issue at the broadcaster. Live availability and programme rights can also differ from recorded content; this guide does not guarantee that every programme will stream everywhere.
Tip: Start with a lower video quality if the player offers it and your connection is unstable. Close the stream when you finish to avoid unnecessary data use.
