Supplying the Kenyan government requires a properly registered business and compliance with the requirements of each procurement. Registration creates eligibility; it does not guarantee an order or payment by a particular date.

What to Prepare

Have your business registration details, KRA PIN, identity documents, business email and relevant ownership information ready. Individual tenders may require tax compliance evidence, professional licences, experience or other documents.

Steps to Get Started

  1. Put business records in order. Ensure your BRS and KRA details agree. Mismatched records can prevent electronic registration.
  2. Register through eGP. Follow the official supplier registration guidance. The person acting for the business must have the required authority.
  3. Check AGPO eligibility. The programme is for eligible enterprises owned by youth, women or persons with disabilities. It is not the general registration route for every supplier.
  4. Find suitable opportunities. Read official tender notices and the procuring organisation’s instructions. Check whether registration, prequalification or an open tender applies.
  5. Prepare a compliant response. Follow the required format, specifications, submission channel and deadline. Include all mandatory evidence.
  6. Plan delivery and cash flow. Review contract terms before committing stock, staff or borrowing.

AGPO’s published ownership criteria include at least 70% membership by the relevant eligible group and 100% leadership by that group. Check current documentary requirements directly with AGPO.

Warning: Do not pay someone who promises a guaranteed award. A supplier profile or AGPO certificate is not a procurement contract.
