How to Link a Kenyan Debit Card to PayPal
Fact-checked on
In this article
You do not need a product specifically called a “PayPal-enabled ATM card”. You need a card that PayPal accepts and that your issuer permits you to use for the transaction.

Ask the issuer about online payments, international transactions, limits and charges before attempting a payment.
What You Need
- Your own PayPal account and card.
- Accurate card and billing details.
- Access to your card statement if confirmation is required.
- Sufficient available funds for any verification charge and intended purchase.
Linking Steps
- Sign in directly to PayPal’s website.
- Open Wallet.
- Select Link a debit or credit card.
- Enter the requested details and follow the on-screen instructions.
- If Confirm Card appears, select it and review the verification instructions.
- Check your card statement for the small charge and four-digit PayPal code, then enter that code in PayPal to confirm.
PayPal says no further confirmation is needed when the card has already been confirmed automatically. Follow the amount and timing shown for your own account rather than an old fixed-dollar quotation.
Warning: The card confirmation code is not your ATM PIN. Never send your PIN, full card details or account password to someone offering to “activate PayPal”.
If the card is declined, check with PayPal and your issuer. Linking a card does not automatically establish a withdrawal route in Kenya.
