Kenya Emergency Contacts: Police, Ambulance, Fire and Helplines
Fact-checked on
In this article
For immediate police assistance in Kenya, call 999, 112 or 911. For medical, fire, child-protection or electricity incidents, use the relevant verified service below and explain where help is needed.
These are numbers published by the organisations themselves at the fact-check date. Coverage, network access and available response resources can vary; publication of a number is not a guaranteed response time.

Crime-reporting contact
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations publishes 0800 722 203 for anonymous crime reporting and 0709 570 000 for WhatsApp reports. If someone is in immediate danger, call a police emergency hotline rather than relying only on a WhatsApp message.
What to tell the responder
- Give your location first: county, town, road, building or landmark and the best access point.
- Describe the emergency clearly, including fire, injuries, violence or an electricity hazard.
- Say how many people need help if you know.
- Give a callback number and follow the responder’s instructions.
- If the call does not connect, try another published number or ask a nearby person to help contact the appropriate service. Do not stay in danger just to make the call.
Electricity incidents
Kenya Power also accepts incident reports through *977#. Its self-service guide directs users to select report incidences, identify the incident type and account type, and submit the details to obtain a reference number.
Warning: Do not approach or handle fallen power lines or exposed electrical equipment. Call the relevant emergency service if people are in danger and report the electrical fault to Kenya Power.
Tip: A toll-free call does not mean every subsequent service, ambulance journey or treatment is free. Ask about the service arrangements when it is safe to do so, but do not delay seeking urgent help.
