Microsoft Surface and Copilot: What Buyers Should Check

Microsoft Copilot is an AI assistant, while Copilot+ PC refers to a class of hardware supporting particular Windows AI experiences. A Surface name or a Copilot button alone does not tell you which features a device supports.

Check the Exact Device

Ask for the full Surface model and configuration. Compare the processor, memory, storage and any required neural processing unit (NPU) specification with Microsoft’s documentation for the feature you want.

Before Buying

  1. List your essential apps. Confirm compatibility with the device’s processor and Windows configuration, including specialist software and peripherals.
  2. Check the feature requirements. Some AI experiences depend on qualifying hardware, a supported Windows version, language or region.
  3. Separate hardware from subscriptions. Ask which advertised capabilities are included and which need an account, connection or separate plan.
  4. Review privacy settings. Understand what information the feature uses and whether processing is local or online.
  5. Compare the complete purchase. Include accessories, warranty and support arrangements offered by your actual seller in Kenya.

Use AI Outputs Carefully

Treat generated text and explanations as drafts to check. Do not assume a device’s AI branding makes its answers accurate or suitable for confidential work.

Tip: Save the exact model’s specifications and the seller’s written quotation before paying.

Warning: Product names, availability and features change. Verify the capability you need instead of relying on an old launch article.
