How to Buy an SGR Ticket Using M-PESA

You can book a Madaraka Express ticket through Kenya Railways’ official website or USSD service and pay using M-PESA. Check the available trains, fares and seats for your travel date before making payment.
What you need
Have the passengers’ identification details, travel date, departure and arrival stations, preferred class and a working mobile number. Enter details as they appear on the travel documents.
Book online
- Open metickets.krc.co.ke.
- Choose the route, travel date, train and class from the options available.
- Enter the passenger details and review them carefully.
- Follow the website’s M-PESA payment instructions and use the reference it generates.
- Keep the confirmation message and e-ticket code.
- Follow the confirmation instructions for ticket printing and station check-in. Carry the identification used for the booking.
Book using USSD
Dial *639# on a Safaricom line and follow the prompts for route, date, passengers and payment. Keep the ticket confirmation after the payment succeeds.
Tickets are also available at Madaraka Express passenger stations. Use the official timetable for your chosen service rather than an old departure-time list.
Warning: Do not send money to a Paybill or personal number copied from an unofficial social media account. Start the booking on a Kenya Railways channel and use the payment details it supplies.
