Ordinary passport holders applying for a Chinese visa in Kenya should use the authorised Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Nairobi. The Chinese Embassy says it does not accept ordinary-passport visa applications directly.
Requirements
Choose the visa type that matches the trip, such as tourism, business or study, and read its current checklist. Prepare your passport, application photograph and the documents required for that category. Business, study and family visits have different supporting-document requirements.
Do not use an incomplete general checklist in place of the visa centre’s instructions. Visa eligibility and any exemption depend on your passport and purpose of travel.
Application steps
- Open the Embassy’s current visa guidance and follow the link to the authorised Nairobi centre.
- Complete the online form and upload the requested documents through the centre’s official service.
- Monitor the preliminary review and supply corrections or extra documents when requested.
- When the status says Passport to be submitted, follow the centre’s submission instructions. The Embassy describes in-person submission of the passport and documents, biometric collection where applicable, and payment at this stage.
- Keep the collection record and check when the passport can be collected.
Fees and timing
Use the current Embassy and visa-centre fee schedules. Visa and service charges may be separate. Do not follow the old instruction to pay at named Commercial Bank of Africa branches.
