How to Find Your Kenya Power Account Number

Use the account number on your latest Kenya Power bill when paying a postpaid electricity account. A prepaid customer’s payment reference is the meter number, which is a different identifier.

The old account-number migration notice is not a reliable guide for recovering an account today. Do not change digits or remove a suffix merely because an older article tells you to.

What you need

Look for a recent bill or a record of the account already linked to your Kenya Power profile. If you cannot find it, have the meter serial number ready when contacting official support.

How to recover or confirm the number

  1. Check the latest bill or your account on Kenya Power’s official self-service platform.
  2. For an account already linked to your phone or profile, use MyPower or dial *977# and select the appropriate postpaid service.
  3. If the postpaid number is still unknown, contact Kenya Power through its official customer-support channels. Its FAQ says support can assist using the meter serial number or the registered owner’s national ID number.
  4. Confirm that the returned account and premises match before paying. For a rented property, reconcile the details with the owner and bill.

Using the right payment reference

Postpaid M-PESA payments use Paybill 888888 with the postpaid account number. Prepaid token purchases use 888880 with the prepaid meter number.

Warning: Share identifying details only through verified Kenya Power support channels. Do not post an owner’s ID number publicly or send payment to an individual’s phone number to recover an account.
