Kenyan Universities in the THE World University Rankings 2027
Fact-checked on
In this article
A university ranking is meaningful only when its publisher and edition are identified. This page uses the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, checked on 3 November 2026. It replaces the old unattributed top-ten list.
Kenyan institutions with an overall ranking band
| University | Global band in THE World University Rankings 2027 |
|---|---|
| University of Nairobi | 1,601–1,800 |
| Kenyatta University | 1,801–2,000 |
These bands are published on THE’s university profiles. The University of Nairobi’s account of the edition also identifies these two Kenyan institutions as receiving overall global bands.
A band is a range, not an exact individual place. Do not turn 1,601–1,800 into a claimed exact rank of 1,601.
What the table does and does not show
This is a result from one named international ranking, not a complete ordered list of every university in Kenya. Lack of a band does not mean an institution is unrecognised or unsuitable for a particular course. Other tables, including subject rankings, measure different things and should be labelled separately.
Choosing a course
Compare the actual programme, admission requirements, fees, facilities, location and professional requirements. Check institutional and programme recognition through the relevant Kenyan authorities. A university-wide research ranking cannot substitute for those checks.
Tip: When comparing results over time, keep the publisher, edition and ranking type consistent. An old web-visibility table should not be relabelled as the current THE ranking.
