How to Apply for an Endorsement of Driving License

Already have a driving licence but now want to drive a matatu, a lorry or a motorbike? Then you need a driving class endorsement. This adds a new class to your existing licence. You do not get a second licence; the new class is simply recorded on the one you already hold.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) handles endorsements, and the whole process runs through the NTSA service on eCitizen.

Requirements
- A valid Kenyan driving licence.
- An eCitizen account with access to NTSA services.
- The minimum age and licence history required for the class you want. Higher classes (trucks, buses, PSVs) require you to have held a lower class for some time first.
- Training at an NTSA-licensed driving school approved for that class.
- A medical certificate for the classes that require one (ask your driving school).
How to Add a Class to Your Driving Licence
- Confirm you meet the age and experience rules for the new class. Your driving school can advise.
- Enrol at an NTSA-licensed driving school that trains the class you want.
- If needed, apply for a provisional licence for the new class on the NTSA eCitizen portal.
- Complete the required training.
- Book and pay for the NTSA driving test (usually arranged through your school).
- Sit and pass the theory and practical test.
- Log in to the NTSA portal on eCitizen and check that the new class has been added to your licence. Follow any instructions to pay and collect an updated licence.
Fees are shown on eCitizen before you pay. Always pay through eCitizen and keep your receipt.
Avoid anyone who promises to “add a class” without training or a test. Licences obtained this way can be cancelled, and you could be charged.
