Want to carry the orange flag officially? Joining the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lets you vote in party elections, run for party positions and seek the party’s ticket in elections. Here is how to sign up today.

How to Join ODM

Who Can Join

Membership is open to Kenyans aged 18 and above who accept the party’s principles and policies. If you plan to vie for a seat, you will also need to be a registered voter. You can only belong to one political party at a time, so if you are in another party you will need to resign first (see below).

Option 1: Register Online with ODM

  1. Go to the ODM membership site at odmmembership.com (linked from the official odm.co.ke website under “Get Involved”).
  2. Fill in your personal details, your county and your preferences.
  3. Confirm and submit your application.

Option 2: Use the Paper Membership Form

  1. Download the official ODM membership form from the downloads section of odm.co.ke.
  2. Fill it in and attach a copy of your ID or passport.
  3. Hand it in at an ODM office.

Option 3: Through the Registrar of Political Parties

  1. Dial *509#, or use the ORPP self-service portal or eCitizen.
  2. Choose the option to join a party and select ODM.
  3. ODM must approve your application before you appear in its membership register.

The ORPP charges only the normal subscriber fee (currently KES 1) for the USSD service. A party may charge its own membership fee as set in its constitution.

Membership Fee

ODM has changed its membership fee over the years, and waived it during recruitment drives. Confirm the current fee with the party before paying, and pay only through official party channels.

Already in Another Party?

You cannot be a member of two parties at once. Check your current status first using our guide: find out your political party membership status. You can resign via *509# or the ORPP online resignation service.

Benefits of ODM Membership

As a member you can take part in party activities and elections at branch, county and national level, be elected or nominated to party positions, and seek the party’s nomination to run for public office, subject to the party constitution and nomination rules.
