Need to write to a ministry, follow up on a file or simply find the right office in Nairobi? Kenya’s ministries have been renamed and reshuffled several times since 2018, so many old addresses and phone numbers no longer work. Below are the current head office details, taken from each ministry’s (or State Department’s) own website.

The national government is now organised under Executive Order No. 1 of 2025. Each ministry has one or more State Departments, each headed by a Principal Secretary (PS). Where a ministry has several State Departments in different buildings, we list the main ones.

Other Ministries

The Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (and the creative economy) and the Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage also exist, but we could not confirm their current contact details from an official source. Notes

Most ministry services, such as permits, certificates and licences, are now applied for and paid for on eCitizen. You rarely need to visit a ministry in person. See our list of eCitizen services.

Many ministries now share a building with other offices. When you visit, ask for the specific State Department you need, not just the ministry.

Ministry names change whenever the President reorganises government. If a ministry has been renamed, its old website usually redirects to the new one.
