Kenyan Passport Fees: Current Application and Replacement Charges
Fact-checked on
In this article
The Directorate of Immigration Services publishes the following Kenyan passport fees. The ordinary passport charge depends on the booklet size, while lost and mutilated passports have separate replacement charges.
Current passport fee table
| Passport or application | Published fee |
|---|---|
| Ordinary passport, A series, 34 pages | KSh 7,550 |
| Ordinary passport, B series, 50 pages | KSh 9,550 |
| Ordinary passport, C series, 66 pages | KSh 12,050 |
| Diplomatic passport | KSh 15,050 |
| Replacement of a lost passport | KSh 20,050 |
| Replacement of a mutilated passport | KSh 20,050 |
These amounts are those shown on the Directorate’s Types and Fees page at the fact-check date. Paying the diplomatic-passport fee does not, by itself, make someone eligible for that category.
Other travel-document charges
The same official page lists:
| Document | Published fee |
|---|---|
| Temporary permit | KSh 1,050 |
| Certificate of Identity for foreigners | KSh 3,050 |
| Interstate Pass, EAC | Gratis |
These documents are not interchangeable with an ordinary passport. Use the document appropriate for your nationality, eligibility, destination and journey; do not assume a temporary permit can replace a passport for every international trip.
How to check and pay the fee
- Read the Directorate’s current fee table and requirements for your application type.
- Follow the official passport-application link from the Directorate’s website to the government service platform.
- Select the correct category and booklet size where applicable, then review the generated invoice.
- Pay through the instructions displayed for that application and retain the payment documents.
- Complete the remaining submission requirements. Payment alone does not complete the application or guarantee issuance.
Do not add a second assumed “processing fee” to the published figure or rely on a third party’s quotation. Check the actual government invoice before paying. If it differs from the published table, ask Immigration to explain the difference.
Lost or damaged passport requirements
For a lost passport, the Directorate lists an original ID and copy for adults, a sworn affidavit, a police abstract and a copy of the missing passport’s bio-data page if available, alongside the prescribed fee.
For a mutilated passport, it lists the previous passport, original ID and copy for adults, a personal statement explaining the damage and a supporting sworn affidavit, alongside the fee. Additional documents can be requested.
Processing time
The fee schedule does not establish a guaranteed four-day, ten-day or same-day turnaround. Follow the current service instructions and application-status updates, and do not treat an old waiting-period table as a promise.
Warning: Do not pay an unofficial agent for a guaranteed issue date or exemption from the required documents.
