What is the Paybill Number for Any Company? How to Look It Up

Need the M-PESA Pay Bill number for a company, school, utility or SACCO? You don’t have to guess or rely on a number someone sent you on WhatsApp — Safaricom lets you look it up yourself and confirm it before you pay. Here are two reliable ways.
Method 1: Dial *234#
- On your Safaricom line, dial *234#.
- From the menu, select My M-PESA information.
- Select Business numbers.
- Type in the name of the business or organisation and confirm.
- The Pay Bill number is sent to you.
Method 2: Use the M-PESA App
- Open the M-PESA app and tap Pay, then Pay Bill.
- In the business-number field, start typing the company’s name. The app suggests matching Pay Bill numbers.
- Pick the right one and continue with the account number and amount.
Always check the name that appears before you enter your PIN. A genuine payment confirmation shows the correct business name (for example, the SMS should name the actual company). Fraudsters circulate fake Pay Bill numbers, so never pay a number you have not confirmed through one of the methods above.
